He earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1997 and his DMD from Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine in 2002, then completed pediatric training at Nova Southeastern and Miami Children's Hospital, where he served as chief resident.
